The British Council announced the winners of the Study UK Alumni Awards 2023-24 in Dubai, UAE on 23rd July 2024.

The announcement was made in presence of MENA Regional Director Amir Ramzan, UAE Country Director Aida Salamanca, Exams Director MENA Simon Green and Interim Alumni Programme Director Maharoop Sheri.

This year, we received over 1,300 applications from alumni in 114 countries, showcasing the global impact of a UK education.

Congratulations to our winners:

Culture and Creativity Award: Ellen Landes

Ellen has successfully managed high-profile events across the Middle East and now runs Arabian Business Concepts while mentoring young professionals and lecturing internationally.

Business and Innovation Award: Abbie Hughes

Abbie, with a decade of experience working for global retailers and launching over 4000 products, now runs Base Brands to help founders grow their product businesses through strategic brand, marketing, and sales expertise.

Social Action Award: Fadi Zaghmout

Fadi is a Jordanian author renowned for his novels exploring societal norms and sexuality, including "The Bride of Amman," and has received international acclaim with translations in multiple languages including recognition in the 2021 Chevening Alumni Global Awards for Social Impact.

Science and Sustainability Award: Dr. Amit Swamy

Dr. Swamy is a distinguished consultant and scholar in mechanical engineering whose innovative work in medical applications and industry 4.0 solutions has significantly impacted global industrial and medical sectors.
