The British Council invites international education policy makers and practitioners to explore how the English education system develops current and aspiring school leaders.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the school leadership landscape in England and the different models of governance used by schools.
The study visit will run on 12–16 October 2015.
The study visit will focus on:
- new models of leadership
- quality assurance
- developing the next generation of leaders
The study visit will include:
- sessions addressing the context of policy with thought leaders, academics, teachers, employers and other advocates for the rights and needs of learners from across all sectors of society. These sessions will explore current national policy and future priorities.
- visits to outstanding schools, selected on the basis of the quality of their work and their successful efforts to raise achievement levels.
- daily sessions run by experts in their field.
Who is the study visit for?
British Council study visits are aimed at policy makers, head teachers, school leaders, principals and governors, all at either regional or national level.
Participants should have at least an intermediate level of English in order to maximise participation and make the most of learning opportunities during the visit.
Costs
The total visit cost is £2,000 per person, for which the British Council will provide:
- all sessions and visits to the school
- facilitation by a head teacher
- accommodation in a four star hotel
- transport to sessions and visits
- a welcome and farewell dinner
- breakfast and lunches.
