UK as the inaugural Guest of Honour at SIBF

This year's Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) have chosen the UK for their inaugural Guest of Honour programme.

From 1-11 Novemeber 2017 the UK invites SIBF guests to experience excellence in contemporary British publishing, brands and writing.

At the heart of the Book Fair, there will be a dedicated UK stand organised by The Department for International Trade (DIT) London Region, ERDF’s Global Growth Project and the UK Publishers Association. For two dedicated trade days, UK publishers attending SIBF can meet new business partners from the entire Arab region and find new export and translation rights trading opportunities.

Literary events

A programme of literary events highlighting contemporary British writing will be organised by the British Council, featuring leading authors including Neel Mukherjee and Peter Frankopan.

SIBF guests can also visit the digital exhibition of the Birmingham Qur’an manuscript, considered a global treasure and is currently held at the University of Birmingham’s Cadbury Research Library. In support of the exhibition, the University of Birmingham, the British Council and The London Book Fair will present a discussion about the history and science of the Birmingham Qur’an amongst leading academics.

All talks are free to attend and accomodate on a first come, first serve basis.
