Neel Mukherjee discusses his approach to storytelling and more
Come see internationally-acclaimed author of A Life Apart and A State of Freedom, and the Man Booker-shortlisted The Lives of Others, Neel Mukherjee, in conversation with writer and broadcaster Sarfraz Manzoor, on 3 November at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).
Mukherjee's novels are distinguished by their formal inventiveness, examining the migrant experience of Indians through the correlation of multiple stories placed side-by-side.
Mukherjee, who is taking part in SIBF's authors’ programme and is part of the UK Guest of Honour Programme, will discuss his approach to storytelling, why he chooses to write against the ‘family saga’ trope of the immigrant novel and the moral imperative to imagine the lives of others.
