For the first time in the UAE, we are happy to announce a Storytelling workshop led by two leading professional performers and coaches of the Storytelling Revival.
Michael Harvey and Paola Balbi will lead you through the basic techniques of oral Storytelling through a series of practical group and one to one exercises.
This is a unique opportunity to discover and experience traditional folktales, and unravel the power of ancient stories to improve your public speaking and communication abilities; learn how to harness the tool of metaphor; find out the wisdom, fun and universal values that our ancestors' stories have preserved for us over centuries.

The workshop itself is free of charge. Supported by the British Council and Tales on the Island - International Storytelling Festival. The only cost is 50 AED admittance to the Festival venue per day, which includes all performances of the day. |

Basic level workshop: Basic Storytelling techniques
Subject: Folktales from different traditions, with main focus on British, Emirati and Middle East traditions.
- What is a story?
- Creation of a storyboard with the images of the story.
- Improvisation of the words for oral storytelling.
- Contact with the audience.
- Basic body language for storyteller.
- The use of language and formulas in Storytelling.
- The point of view of the Storyteller and different characters in the story.
